The cost of living in NO VA is outrageous. Good luck trying to find housing within 20 miles of DC for under 300K. I bought a 2 bedroom/2 bath condo 2 1/2 years ago for 140K. In November '05 it appraised for 310K. Other than that I like the area but plan on moving somewhere cheaper when I retire.
